One of the major benefits of becoming an ABYC member is the ability to purchase the Standards & Technical Information Reports for Small Craft. The ABYC standards are available in the following three formats:
- Standards Manual — This large, blue, three ring notebook is a common sight in the hands of marine professionals.
- ABYC CD-ROM — This convenient format offers computer access to the Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft and includes the USCG's Rules and Regulations for Recreational Craft, an excerpt from the Code of Federal Regulation. The CD also includes the ABYC Comparison Reports as well as the USCG's Compliance Guidelines.
- Web-STIR (Standards & Technical Information Reports) — This internet accessible option includes all the information contained on the ABYC CD-ROM and may be accessed from any location with a DSL or better internet connection.
It is important to remember that each year any number of documents may be updated or revised. In order to have the most up-to-date information, you must renew your membership with ABYC, and for the electronic formats (CD-ROM and Web), annual updates must be purchased for a small fee.
