ABYC Releases 2005 Certification and Seminar Schedule

December 6, 2004, Edgewater, MD: The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) today released its 2005 schedule of certification and seminar courses. Based on industry demand, these ABYC courses are now available both nationally and internationally. In addition to scheduled training, courses and seminars can be hosted at any location as long as the host-site ensures a minimum of 15 students register and attend.

"In 2005 ABYC will be offering over 30 education programs across the country," stated Bonnie Barsa, ABYC's Education Director. "We have recently developed three new courses; those interested in becoming an ABYC Certified Technicians can take the certification tests online; and in the next few months, we will be rolling out our first online course," Barsa continued. "Our goal is to provide a variety of courses in a variety of forms (classroom, online, onsite) to meet the education needs of our industry, and we encourage everyone to plan their education schedules early!," concluded Barsa.

ABYC has been developing, writing and updating the safety standards for boat building and repair in the United States for 50 years. ABYC is actively involved with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as well as certification programs for marine technicians. These standards are available on CD-ROM, online and in printed form.
