ABYC Offers Chicago its Basic Marine Engine &
Gasoline Engine & Support Systems Certification Courses
October 6 - 8 and 9 - 10, 2003
September 10, 2003, Edgewater, MD: The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) Basic Marine Engines course is scheduled for October 6 8, 2003 at the Best Western Inn in Chicago, IL, and is followed by the Gasoline Engine & Support Systems Certification course on October 9 10, 2003 at the same location.
The Basic Marine Engines course is a three-day seminar designed for the less experienced engine technician, marine surveyor and anyone interested in the basics of trouble-shooting, maintaining and installing marine engines. The essentials of both gasoline and diesel fueled engines and related systems will be covered, as well as the following topics:
- Fuel systems (both gas & diesel);
- Ignition systems on gasoline fueled engines;
- Basic ABYC exhaust system requirements; and
- Engine cooling systems (fresh and raw water) - explained in detail.
The two-day Gasoline Engine & Support Systems Certification course, which immediately follows the Basic Marine Engines course is designed for experienced marine gasoline engine technicians, or those who have attended the three-day Basic Engines course. Cooling systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, ventilation systems, exhaust systems, control systems, ignition systems and drive systems as they pertain to gasoline engines. This class concludes with the ABYC certification exam.
Registration:
The education fee for the Basic Marine Engines course is $449 for ABYC members, $600 for non-members, and the fee for Gasoline Certification course is $425 for ABYC members, $625 for non-members.
