ABYC Standards & Membership Included With Westlawn Enrollment
August 18, 2003, Edgewater, MD: The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) and the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology announced that as one of the new benefits resulting from Westlawn's affiliation with ABYC, all active Westlawn students will receive a one-year, student membership in ABYC, as well as a complete copy of the latest ABYC Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft on CD (the 'ABYC Standards Manual').
Students will be eligble to maintain their ABYC membership at a reduced rate for up to three additional years, as long as they are enrolled in Westlawn.
Dave Gerr, Westlawn Director says, "Not only is this a great financial benefit for Westlawn students, but this is part of the ongoing plan of upgrading Westlawn's academic program." "We are strongly encouraging the Westlawn students to thoroughly familiarize themselves with the ABYC standards, as they will now be incorporated in the core curriculum of Westlawn," stated Gerr.

Founded in 1930, the Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology is the only nationally accredited and state certified distance-learning school of small-craft design in the United States.
