Back to School With ABYC
ABYC Offers Two Electrical Classes in September

July 22, 2004, Edgewater, MD: As students prepare to hit the books and go back to school this Fall, the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) will conduct both an entry level electrical class and advanced electrical certification course for marine workforce professionals.

ABYC's Electrical Certification course will be held September 13 - 16, 2004 at the Best Western Inn in Chicago, IL. The student who attends this course must be very familiar with ABYC electrical standards, and covers topics such as electrical theory, generator sets, lead-acid batteries, grounding and bonding systems, inverters, using a multi-meter, battery testing, trouble-shooting and more. A 200-question certification test will be administered on the last day. The education fee for this seminar is $735 for ABYC members and $895 for non-members.

Electrical Systems in Boats, will be held on September 21 - 22, 2004 at the Sofitel San Francisco Bay in Redwood City, CA. It is designed to increase the overall knowledge base of emerging marine professionals in AC and DC marine electrical systems. Class emphasis is on ABYC standards, as well as circuit diagrams and panelboards. This course is primarily lecture with several demonstrations, and will cover AC & DC theory, overcurrent, stray current, and lightening protection, load calculations, symbols and circuit diagrams and more. At this course, National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) and Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) surveyors can earn 14 Industry Education credit hours. The education fee for this seminar is $349 for members and $509 for non-members.
