The Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology
Announces the First "Mystic Meet"

Meet Westlawn Faculty & Explore Mystic Seaport July 22, 2006

June 29, 2006, Annapolis, MD: The Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology is pleased to announce it will be holding the First "Westlawn Mystic Meet" at the Mystic Seaport on Saturday, July 22, 2006. Westlawn students and alumni are invited to meet faculty Dave Gerr, Westlawn Director, Stu Waring, Instructor and Norman Nudelman, Provost, see Westlawn's Mystic Seaport office, and explore the Mystic Seaport Museum. During this weekend, Mystic Seaport will also be holding its Antique and Classic Boat Rendezvous.

The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. with coffee at Westlawn's Mystic Seaport office, which is located on the museum campus. Students and alumni will receive a free Westlawn t-shirt and ball cap, free passes to the Mystic Seaport for the weekend and free entry to the Antique and Classic Boat Rendezvous. Other activities during the day will include: a one-on-one critique and review of boat designs; a "Stump the Faculty" challenge where participants can ask any boat design question they can think of; free lunch; a guided behind-the-scenes tour of Mystic Seaport; and a free hand-out of a special advance copy of the new Westlawn reference paper on helm-station design and layout.

Dave Gerr, Westlawn Director said, "This is the first time Westlawn has coordinated such an event for our students at the school itself. Because Westlawn is a distance-learning school, there are limited opportunities for Westlawn students to meet the Westlawn faculty, which is why we wanted to hold a get-together like this.

With the opening of our Westlawn office at Mystic Seaport last year, and the opportunity to access the Museum's many resources, such as the ships plans library and small-craft collection, what better place to hold such an event. Alumni are welcome! We're looking forward to it!"

For additional information on the event, or to RSVP, please contact Patti Schulte, Student Services Coordinator at (410) 990-4470, ext. 41 or via email at pschulte@abycinc.org.
