Revised Rules & Regulations for Recreational Craft
Publication Now Available From ABYC

June 13, 2003 Edgewater, MD: The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) today announced that it's revised Rules and Regulations for Recreational Boats publication is now available. The Rules and Regulations are published by the American Boat & Yacht Council to provide an economical and convenient source for the laws and regulations, which govern the design, construction and use of boats.

The 198-page publication was previously published in 1995, and includes excerpts from the United States Code (USC) and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), that contain all the amendments which were available as of the date of publication. The new spiral-bound design also offers a practical format in which marine technicians can find the information they need in a working environment.

John Adey, ABYC's Technical Director said, "ABYC was receiving requests for the revised publication months before it was available." Adey continued, "The Rules & Regulations is an indispensable reference tool that includes everything you need to know about federal recreational boating laws in one place." "In the future, I would like to see the Rules & Regulations updated bi-annually," concluded Adey.

The member price for the publication is $24.95 and the non-member price is $32.95.

The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) is a not-for-profit organization that has been developing, writing and updating the safety standards for boat building and repair in the United States for nearly 50 years. ABYC is actively involved with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as well as certification programs for marine technicians. These standards are available on CD-ROM and in printed form. To order this publication, you may call ABYC at (410) 956-1050.
