ABYC CD-ROM Wins Silver in
2004 Association TRENDS All Media Contest

March 21, 2005, Edgewater, MD: The American Boat & Yacht Council's Standards and Technical Information Reports for Small Craft on CD-ROM won a Silver Award in the "Web Site/CD Design for an Association" category in the 2004 Association TRENDS All Media Contest. Association TRENDS, a popular association publication sponsors the annual contest and received over 248 entries for all categories, that were submitted by both associations and vendors.

Automated Graphic Systems, Inc. (AGS), ABYC's vendor for the CD-ROM project, submitted the 50th Anniversary edition of the ABYC Standards & Technical Information Reports on CD-ROM for its distinctive design and software development. Categories were judged using six main categories: appearance, layout, style, content, appropriateness and effectiveness.

John Adey, ABYC's Technical Director said, "We are honored that our CD was recognized by the association industry through this annual competition. ABYC works closely with AGS to utilize the most up-to-date technology when developing our standards products (CD and online), and we are continually looking for ways to increase the ease of use and value for our members," concluded Adey.

In addition to the CD-ROM format, ABYC members can also receive the ABYC Standards in manual and/or Web-STIR format, which is web access to the Standards & Technical Information Reports (STIR).

ABYC has been developing, writing and updating the safety standards for boat building and repair in the United States for over 50 years. ABYC is actively involved with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) as well as education and certification programs for marine technicians. These standards are available on CD-ROM, online (Web-STIR) and in printed form. Membership and general information can be requested by visiting the ABYC web site at www.abycinc.org.
