ABYC Stability & Flotation Offered Once in 2004

March 5, 2004, Edgewater, MD: The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) will conduct the Stability & Flotation seminar from April 5 - 6, 2004 at the Holiday Inn in Ft. Lauderdale Beach, FL.
This two-day seminar, designed for small craft designers, marine surveyors, boat builders and compliance personnel, will give marine industry professionals an appreciation and understanding of the science of hydrostatics and flotation. The class format will be a blended mixture of:
- Lecture and discussion;
- Demonstrations; and
- Team-based, in-class practical application exercises.
At the conclusion of this course, the student will receive the necessary information and training to understand the reason behind ABYC Standards on Load Capacity and Buoyancy, and applicable sections from the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The successful student will also be able to:
- Identify the sections of each standard that apply to a specific boat type;
- Calculate the capacity and predict the stability of a given boat; and
- Specify the proper type and amount of flotation to be installed in a boat to meet the standards.
