ABYC Composite Courses Added to
2004 ABYC Education Calendar

February 25, 2004, Edgewater, MD: The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) recently announced that ABYC's Composite Boat Builder Certification (CBBC) course and ABYC's Laminator Course have both been added to the 2004 Education Calendar.

The CBBC course will be offered from March 31 - April 2, 2004 at the Radisson Hotel Opryland in Nashville, TN. This three-day composites course is designed to provide a thorough understanding of marine composite construction. Boat builders, managers, small craft designers, team leaders, marine surveyors, compliance personnel and laminators who want advanced training will all benefit from attending this course. At the completion of the course and with a passing score on the 200-question exam, attendees will earn an ABYC Composite Boat Builder Certification.

The ABYC Laminator Course, the newest addition to the composite boat building education series, is scheduled for March 31 - April 1, 2004 at the Radisson Hotel Opryland in Nashville, TN. It is a two-day composites course designed to give students a basic foundation and understanding of the strict guidelines required of workers when building a composite boat. This course wraps up with a 100-question exam, and after successful completion of the course, including the exam, attendees will earn the designation of ABYC Laminator and will be better prepared for the ABYC CBBC course.

Bonnie Barsa, ABYC's Education Director said, "We are excited to be offering each of these classes for the first time on the road." "As a result of feedback from participants of the pilot CBBC program, held at IBEX, we determined two separate composite courses were needed," stated Barsa. "We designed the CBBC course for the advanced composites technician, which covers all levels of composite boat building, and one specifically for Laminators," concluded Barsa.

ABYC can bring these courses and instructors directly to any facility. Marine manufacturers and associations interested in having the program presented at one of their facilities or conferences should contact ABYC's Education Director.

Registration:
The education fee for the ABYC CBBC course is $550 for ABYC members, $650 for non-members, and the fee for ABYC Laminator course is $325 for ABYC members, $425 for non-members.
