2006 ABYC Annual Meeting
February 15, 2006

Because of the positive feedback we received last year about holding the Annual Meeting at the BASS Museum of Art, we decided to hold the 2006 ABYC Annual Meeting at the same location, which again proved to be a big success! ABYC members gathered at the museum to welcome in new Board members, recognize departing ones and present the ABYC Annual Awards.

Our Keynote Speaker was Rear Admiral Craig Bone, Director of Inspection and Compliance for the United States Coast Guard, who also assisted with the presentation of awards.

ABYC would also like to thank long-time members McAlpin & Brais, P.A. and Buist Moore Smythe McGee, P.A. who were the co-sponsors of the this year's Annual Meeting.

The Lifelong Service Award was presented to Hank Grilk, who received this award in recognition of his lifelong service to the marine industry and his profound contributions to boating safety, design and the advancement of recreational boating.

The C.T. Moyer Leadership Award was presented to Tom Marhevko, VP of Engineering Standards at NMMA for providing steadfast leadership in support of ABYC, its mission and the marine industry.

Although the recipient of this award was not able to attend the event, we announced that Paul Michalczyk was awarded this year's ABYC Service Award for his conspicuous service through active participation with committees, boards and education initiatives that materially benefit the goals of ABYC.

The ABYC Foundation presented the 16th Bunzl Boating Safety Award to Zodiac of North America and the Zodiac Academy Flood Response Team for their crucial role and heroic actions in the rescue and relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. JJ. Marie, President of Zodiac NA and Todd Salus, Business Operations Manager/Zodiac Maritime Training Academy Instructor were on hand to accept the award. In addition to a crystal engraved plaque, each team member also received an engraved clock or compass chart weight. (L to R - Rear Admiral Craig Bone, Todd Salus, JJ. Marie, Dennis Graham, ABYC Board Chair, Bolling Douglas, ABYC Foundation Board Chair)

ABYC Chair, Dennis Graham and President, Skip Burdon presented Rear Admiral Bone with a token of our appreciation for speaking at this year's event.

David Collins from Buist Moore Smythe McGee, P.A. and a representative from McAlpin & Brais, P.A. were also presented with a small gift in appreciation of their generous support of this year's event.

Congratulations to all the award recipients and thank you to everyone for their support of this event!
