What is the ABYC Foundation?
The ABYC Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that was established in 1988 to raise funds and provide support for special projects, education and training programs, scholarships and other initiatives being undertaken by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC). Our mission is to support ABYC in the development of standards, education, information, and awareness initiatives; and special projects that are designed to promote and foster boating safety. In other words…we exist to favorably impact boating safety and workforce education related issues that directly effect both YOU and the boating public!
All our endeavors support projects and programs for ABYC that may not otherwise be accomplished using ABYC's limited budget.
The Foundation does not write the standards or conduct workshops. But the Foundation does provide the financial support for the vast array of essential and otherwise non-funded endeavors that ABYC has voluntarily undertaken on behalf of boating safety. The Foundation's efforts on behalf of ABYC addresses marine industry excellence across the board, and just a few of the many initiatives realized through the generous donations made to the ABYC Foundation are listed herein.
The strategic partnership between ABYC and the ABYC Foundation results in a positive synergism that clearly benefits the industry and the boating public. Safer boats and informed boaters increase the level of enjoyment, reduce the level of risk and improve the financial health of the industry. This is the objective of the ABYC Foundation.
