What is the ABYC Foundation?

The ABYC Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that was established in 1988 to raise private funds to enhance and expand ABYC’s education and training programs, public awareness initiatives and provide scholarships to aspiring marine students. Our mission is to support ABYC in the development of standards, education, information, and public awareness as well as generate special projects that are designed to promote and foster boating safety.

The Foundation does not write the standards or conduct workshops. Rather it provides the financial support for the vast array of essential endeavors that ABYC has voluntarily undertaken on behalf of boating safety. The Foundation's efforts in conjunction with ABYC encourages industry excellence in all marine products and services through the generous donations made to the ABYC Foundation.

The strategic partnership between ABYC and the ABYC Foundation results in a positive supporting culture that clearly benefits marine industry professionals and the boating public. Safer boats and better informed boaters increase the level of enjoyment, reduce the level of risk and improve the financial health of the industry. This is the objective of the ABYC Foundation.
