Refrigeration and A/C Certification
The ABYC Refrigeration and Air Conditioning certification course is designed for the marine technician that has at least a rudimentary level of experience and / or prior training in working with these systems. The ABYC certification course consists of two and a half days of extensive material review covering the following areas:
- Installation and troubleshooting of:
- both AC and DC electrical systems related to refrigeration
- air management system
- related plumbing systems
- refrigeration system.
- Troubleshooting and repair of system mechanical components.
- Installation and troubleshooting of reverse-cycle air conditioning systems.
The certification exam will be administered after lunch of the third day of this program.
Optionally, the attendee of this program may attend a fourth day for a thorough review and exam to achieve EPA refrigerant certification for these systems.
At the time of registration, students will be sent a newly revised Study Guide, which should be reviewed and studied thoroughly, along with the relevant ABYC Standards called out within the guide. You will need to bring your Study Guide and your copy of the ABYC Standards manual to the course. If you do not have access to an ABYC Standards manual, please contact the Education Department to purchase this textbook.
EPA100 EPA Coolant Certification Class
This one day class is offered at the conclusion of the A/C Refrigeration Certification class for an additional $195. It is designed to equip the student with the EPA coolant certification necessary to purchase bulk refrigerant.
