Laminator Course
In this course, students will be introduced to the theory and practical application of composites, materials, open molding procedures, finishing, and personal safety. The 2 day class is specifically designed to give a rudimentary understanding of the guidelines boat builders need to follow when building a composite boat. The material is taught on the first day in two 4 hour blocks. The second day begins with a one-hour review and is followed by a two- hour, 100-question exam. After successful completion of the course, including the exam, attendees will earn the designation of ABYC Laminator and qualify for the ABYC Composite Boat Builder Certification course.
The ABYC standards manual, ABYC study guide, and your class notes may be referred to during this exam. The current ABYC Standards are available to members on-Line via (WebStir). The use of laptop computers, calculators or mobile phones (with calculator app) will be allowed during the exam, however anyone caught texting during the exam will be immediately ejected from the class. All candidates need to supply their own #2 lead pencil for filling out the exam answer sheet.
Candidates removed from class due to text messaging while taking the exam will not be refunded tuition or test fees.
