Stability and Flotation Seminar

This two-day seminar is designed to give students an understanding of the science of hydrostatics and flotation. The class format will be a mixture of:
  • Lectures
  • Demonstrations
  • In-class "homework" on a team basis

At the end of this course, the student should understand the reasoning behind ABYC standards on load capacity and buoyancy, and sections from the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The student should also be able to:

  • Identify the parts of each standard that apply to a given boat; and
  • Calculate the capacity and predict the stability of a given boat; and
  • Specify the proper type and amount of flotation to be installed in a boat in order to meet the standards.

The cost of this course is $349 for members; $509 for non-members. Please check the calendar for dates and locations.
