| The ABYC Refrigeration and Air Conditioning certification course is designed for the marine technician that has at least a rudimentary level of experience and / or prior training in working with these systems. The ABYC certification course consists of two and ½ days of extensive material review covering the following areas: Installation and troubleshooting of both AC and DC electrical systems related to refrigeration. Installation and troubleshooting of air management system. Installation and troubleshooting of related plumbing systems. Installation and troubleshooting of the refrigeration system. Troubleshooting and repair of system mechanical components. Installation and troubleshooting of reverse-cycle air conditioning systems.
The certification exam will be administered after lunch of the second day of this program.
Optionally, the attendee of this program may attend a third day for a thorough review and exam to achieve EPA coolant certification for these systems.
At the time of registration, students will be sent a completely revised study guide, which should be reviewed and studied thoroughly along with the relevant ABYC Standards called out within the guide. Students are required to bring both the study guide and the relevant Standards to the class as needed course materials.
Class Note: You may bring the ABYC Standards Manual "Standards & Technical Information Reports for Small Craft" or CD Rom/Laptop to class. All Standards discussed will be contained in your Study Guide. You must bring your Study Guide to class or make arrangements to obtain a Study Guide prior to the class. The class Study Guide and other class information will be shipped to you after you register for the class. Certification Classes Students attending certification classes must supply their own # 2 pencil for use during the exam and may bring a calculator to class and use it during the certification exam. |
